Welsh assembly standards commissioner's lobbyist review
- Published
The Welsh assembly's standards commissioner is to review AMs' dealings with political lobbyists.
The request was made by assembly Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler.
It comes after the UK government began a consultation on whether to set up a statutory register of lobbyists who have dealings with politicians.
It follows Prime Minister David Cameron's 2010 prediction that lobbying was the "next big scandal waiting to happen".
The assembly's commissioner for standards, Gerard Elias QC, is expected to complete the review by the autumn.
