Prince Charles will host an event with world leaders and local people to promote Wales on the first night of next month's Nato Summit in Newport.

David Cameron, First Minister Carwyn Jones and Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb will join the prince at the reception.

Guests will be entertained by Welsh music stars and be served a selection of food from Wales.

Mr Crabb said the reception, at the Celtic Manor, was an "opportunity to promote Wales to the world".

He added it was also a chance to "thank the local community for their amazing hospitality".

"Wales is a confident, outgoing-looking nation and we are proud to be hosting this historic Nato summit," he said.

Sixty leaders from Nato members and partner nations have been invited to the summit's first day and evening reception.

The conference will take place on 4 and 5 September at the hotel in Newport.
