Millions of pounds is on offer to buy and renovate building eyesores in seven Welsh towns.
Tredegar, Rhymney, Llanelli, Rhyl, Caernarfon, Barry and Grangetown in Cardiff will all benefit from £5m funding loans.
Communities Minister Lesley Griffiths said town centres played a "vital role" in community life.
Vale of Glamorgan council leader Neil Moore welcomed the "relatively small but important contribution".
The councils involved will be expected to pay the money back to the Welsh government after 15 years.
