Election 2015: Tory AM in running to be English MP
- Published
A north Wales Conservative AM has made the final shortlist to be the Tory candidate in a safe Cheshire seat in May's general election.
Antoinette Sandbach is in the running to be the next MP for Eddisbury.
Departing MP Stephen O'Brien has a 13,255 majority and the candidate will be chosen on Wednesday 25 March.
If successful Ms Sandbach, a north Wales regional AM since 2011, would be allowed to remain an AM until the assembly elections in 2016.
If she stands down before then, Llandudno councillor Janet Hawarth would take her seat in Cardiff Bay for the Conservatives without the need for a by-election.
Fellow Tory AMs Byron Davies and Mark Isherwood have already been selected as Westminster candidates to fight Gower and Delyn respectively.
