Alun Cairns defends cottage burning comments

Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns has defended his comments about cottage burning as part of the "cut and thrust" of political debate.

He clashed with Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood on the BBC's Question Time programme last Thursday, claiming "many" Plaid members had broken the law taking direct action over migration into Welsh-speaking communities.

Ms Wood later demanded an apology, accusing Mr Cairns of peddling "myths and smears".

In his first interview since the row broke out, the Welsh secretary defended his comments to Daniel Davies of BBC Wales.
