Sri Lanka deportation plea by MP over Bangor uni student
Arfon MP Hywel Williams has urged the Home Office to allow a deportation-threatened student to finish her studies at Bangor University.
Sri Lankan Shiromini Satkunarajah, 20, has been arrested and taken to a detention centre after being refused asylum.
She has lived in the UK since the age of 12 and is due to take her electrical engineering degree this summer.
A National Union of Students petition backing her bid to stay attracted 27,000 signatures.
The Home Office said it considers each case carefully.
