Tributes have been paid to the former Labour MP for Rhondda, Allan Rogers, who has died at the age of 91.
He represented the constituency between 1983 and 2001.
His successor, Chris Bryant, said he "was a magnificent advocate for the people of the Rhondda through some of its darkest times".
Caerphilly Labour MS Hefin David said Mr Rogers "couldn't have lived a fuller life, so much of it devoted to public service".
A Swansea University geology graduate, Mr Rogers was also a member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1984, representing South East Wales.
At Westminster, his roles included being opposition defence spokesman and foreign affairs spokesman.
He was also a member of the key Commons Intelligence and Security Committee.
Before entering politics, he worked as a geologist in the UK, Canada, USA and Australia, and then as a teacher.
