Man, 20, dies after Merthyr Tydfil crash

Police say a 20-year-old man has died and another man, 22, was injured when a convertible car hit a tree in Merthyr Tydfil.

The incident happened early on Friday morning at High Street, Penydarren, close to the Penydarren Club.

The younger man was taken to Prince Charles Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The crash, involving a blue Rover convertible car, closed the road for several hours.

The 22-year-old victim is still receiving treatment for the injuries he sustained.

South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, or may have seen the MGF car being driven before the crash, to contact them.
