A husband will go on trial charged with murdering his estranged wife after allegedly shooting her on a Newport street.
Christopher Parry, 49, is accused of killing Caroline, 46, in Seabreeze Avenue on 8 August.
Mr Parry, who suffered gunshot wounds to his head in the incident, is being cared for at Llanarth Court Hospital, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
He has admitted carrying a firearm or imitation firearm with criminal intent.
Mother-of-two Ms Parry, who was separating from her husband, died after being shot in broad daylight near her home.
Mr Parry, who was critically wounded, was taken to the city's Royal Gwent Hospital with serious head injuries and was treated under police guard.
It was more than a month before Gwent Police officers could interview him.
The pair were found on the road next to their cars which both had the boots open.
An inquest, which has been opened and adjourned, heard Ms Parry had been shot in the back.
