A former nursing director has been struck off after failing to protect vulnerable people in her care.

Christine Hayes, Caerphilly Local Health Board nursing director between 2003 and 2006, kept moving people to a care home despite knowing of serious concerns over standards.

Seven misconduct charges were found proved at a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) hearing in November.

She has now been struck off the nursing register.

During her hearing, the NMC panel heard that residents suffered from pressure sores and poor nutrition.

At that time, Caerphilly council was responsible for funding nursing home placements in the area and Mrs Hayes had responsibility for commissioning care.
