Senior faith leaders from all over the UK are meeting in Cardiff for what has been described as an "historic" event.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis and Islamic scholar Dr Asim Yusuf are attending the event for 500 guests at Cardiff City Hall along with representatives from the Christian, Hindu and Sikh faiths.

Faith leaders are discussing how different religions can work together to fight extremism and prejudice.

The event has been organised by the Muslim Council of Wales.

It is being held amid a heavy police presence.

Saleem Kidwai from the Muslim Council of Wales described it as an historic event and said he had never heard of a Muslim organisation hosting a function for a chief rabbi in England or Wales.
