Homes in Taff Street will be bought by the Welsh government as part of the regeneration scheme

More than £1m is to be spent buying up homes in Merthyr Vale as part of a regeneration plan.

The Welsh government will spend £1.1m on houses in Taff Street and Crescent Street as part of Project Riverside.

The regeneration scheme, which already has a new primary school, will see 230 new homes built on the site.

Residents had previously complained they had been left in limbo by the project and were unable to sell their homes due to risk of flooding.
