Graves removal bid for A465 Head of the Valleys Road widening

Human remains and grave stones at a former chapel in the path of a major road widening scheme in Monmouthshire are set to be removed.
Graves date to the mid 1800s, external at the old Lion Terrace Chapel cemetery which stands on the A465 Head of the Valleys Road at Gilwern.
Some nearby properties have already been demolished for the road project.
Councillor Simon Howarth said provision was made some years ago to relocate the graves to nearby Llanelly cemetery.
A notice has been published in the local Press, external trying to identify relatives of those buried at the cemetery.
The road dualling work, external between Gilwern and Brynmawr is planned for completion in 2018.
