A supernatural thriller is set to be made in Cardiff.

Don't Knock Twice, featuring Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff, will begin filming in the capital this week.

Cardiff-based Red and Black Films was the first Welsh production company to receive funding from the Welsh government's media investment budget to make it.

The company's previous films, Little White Lies and The Machine, both won BAFTA Cymru awards.

The film is about a "guilt-ridden mother" who wants to reconnect with her estranged daughter.

But she ends up having to save her daughter and to do this she has to uncover the truth behind an urban legend of a "vengeful, demonic witch".

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: "Film production is a hugely important element of the creative industries and an area that Wales excels in.

"We are building on this success, attracting new productions to Wales and, through the Media Investment Budget, ensuring that at least 50 percent of each production is filmed in Wales, supporting Welsh talent and Welsh companies."
