Two taken to hospital after Maindee crash, Newport

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash between a car and a van in Newport.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service was called to Chepstow Road in Maindee at about 19:00 BST on Monday.

The road was closed while emergency services including paramedics and firefighters dealt with the incident.

An elderly woman and a man were taken to hospital. The extent of their injuries is unclear.
