Llandaff river search for reported casualty stood down

Teams searching the River Taff in Cardiff following reports of a casualty in the water have been stood down.

The emergency services were called to the river near Llandaff Rowing Club just before 10:20 GMT.

Police, the coastguard's rescue helicopter, the Welsh Ambulance's Hazardous Area Response Team (Hart) and about 20 firefighters took part in the search.

South Wales Police said the search had ended and no casualty had been found.

Earlier, Jennie Griffiths, from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, tweeted, external: "Crews in boat have searched river from barrage to Castle Street and along riverbank.

"Helicopter also searching from Coopers Field to Llandaff. No sightings at present."
