Fans wait for Beyonce and Jay Z concert in Cardiff

Excited fans queued for hours in the sunshine to see superstars Beyonce and Jay-Z perform in Cardiff.

There was a festival atmosphere in the city as the couple kicked off their tour at a packed Principality Stadium, before playing dates across Europe and America.

To cope with the hordes of fans of Queen B and the rap superstar, roads in the city centre are closed.

One super fan said: "I've got 99 problems but queuing ain't one".

The thousands of fans arriving for the On the Run II tour, external were asked to leave large bags and prohibited items, external at home to speed-up enhanced security checks.

Before the much-anticipated concert, Ch Supt Stuart Parfitt said: "South Wales Police is accustomed to policing major events.

"As always, our priority will be to maintain a visible and reassuring presence in and around the city and to provide the response the public would expect in order to keep them safe."

Chief Con Matt Jukes tweeted the capital city was "buzzing in the most brilliant way".

Several roads were closed in the city centre, external from 18:00 BST until 23:30 and Park and Ride, external facilities will be available at the Cardiff City Stadium in Leckwith.

Arriva Trains Wales, external has advised passengers to get the earliest train possible.
