"A loving, caring and bubbly little girl" is how relatives have described a four-year-old who was found dead in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
Amelia Brooke Harris was pronounced dead at an address in Trealaw on Friday night.
In a statement her family said she was "beautiful both inside and out".
Police have been given more time to question a 37-year-old woman arrested on Friday.
Tributes, including soft toys and flowers have been left near the property.
In a statement issued by police, Amelia's family said: "On Friday night we tragically lost our baby girl Amelia Brooke Harris.
"A loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, great granddaughter, niece and cousin.
"Amelia was beautiful both inside and out - and was a fun-loving, caring and bubbly little girl.
"She was taken far too early from us and had her whole life ahead of her.
"Words cannot convey how we are feeling at this moment in time. We know our lives will never be the same again."
Police have again warned people not to speculate on social media about the circumstances of the child's death - which is being treated as unexplained.
A woman was initially arrested on Friday night but police said that they had been granted a further 36 hours to question her by a court on Sunday.
Officers are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination which will determine the cause of death.
Det Supt Richard Jones said: "Our thoughts go out to the family and friends in what is a traumatic incident.
"I would like to thank them for speaking with us and assisting our investigation, at what is clearly a very difficult time for them.
"I would also like to thank the local community for their patience, given the significant police activity in the area over the past 36 hours."
He also reiterated a warning for the public to "demonstrate responsibility" when using social media, saying some information posted has been upsetting for family.
On Saturday, Ch Supt Dorian Lloyd said: "I am aware of the deep concern and upset locally, but would urge all members of the community to refrain from speculating on the incident and to demonstrate responsibility when posting content on social media.
"I encourage everyone to think carefully about the consequences of messages - when using social media - and how they may impact on others.
"Positive action will be taken against those who post messages that are abusive, threatening or insulting."
