Plans to alter the traffic flow over two river bridges at one of the busiest routes into Swansea have gone on show.

Work is expected to start on the alterations crossing the River Tawe near the marina next month.

The city council says by creating a clockwise movement of traffic driving in and out of the city it can cut congestion and reduce queues.

The plans are on show online, at the civic centre and at St Thomas Library.

The northern bridge will become one-way, with the southern bridge, closest to Sainsbury's, remaining two-way.

The council said a study suggested it could lead to a 48% reduction in morning peak-time congestion and a 9% reduction in the afternoon.

Letters about the exhibition have been sent to all city centre businesses and people living in St Thomas.

The council said disruption would be kept to a minimum until the work was completed in December.
