A lorry taking mail to a Swansea depot became stuck in a narrow road after taking a wrong turn.

Recovery teams spent much of Sunday trying to free the vehicle after it got into difficulties in Frederick Place, Llansamlet, at about 13:00 GMT.

The lorry was eventually released about five hours later.

Royal Mail said while the driver was not injured, he was very embarrassed, and the post would be sorted when back at the depot.

The mail was destined for addresses across the SA postcode area. Although it was delayed, Royal Mail said it would be delivered as quickly as possible.

Spokesman Stuart Taylor said: "We can confirm that a Royal Mail articulated vehicle was involved in a road traffic accident in the Llansamlet area of Swansea.

"Thankfully, neither the driver nor any other person was injured as a result of the incident."

He said the vehicle was being taken to the nearby Royal Mail site at Swansea.
