In Pictures: Sky lanterns released for April Jones
People in Machynlleth and communities across mid Wales have released sky lanterns and pink balloons to mark the hour last Monday that five-year-old April Jones was last seen.
Mair Raftree, April's godmother, kissed her balloon before releasing it. Earlier in the day, she attended the court hearing of the man charged with April's murder.
People were also encouraged to light a candle or release a pink balloon. Pink was April's favourite colour.
Similar events were held in Aberystwyth, and Tywyn, Gwynedd, but Machynlleth has seen the greatest response to April's disappearance.
The mid Wales town acted in unison with April's parents, Coral and Paul Jones, who released a sky lantern from their back garden.
Shortly after 19:00 BST, the sky above the town began to fill with sky lanterns.
The air was soon filled with hundreds of lanterns which were gently carried away by the wind.
The search for April was called off on Monday evening as darkness fell. Search teams are to resume their efforts on Tuesday morning.
