Dylan Thomas replica shed goes on tour for centenary

As part of a year-long festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of poet Dylan Thomas, a replica of his writing shed above the Boathouse in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, is being built.

The Boathouse terrace has views over the Taf estuary and Gower. The stretch of water is a haven for herons, oystercatchers, seals and otters and fishermen.

The first poem Thomas wrote in the shed was Over Sir John’s Hill, in which he described the view from the shed.

The replica shed will be one of the features to celebrate DT100 and visitors will be encouraged to make up a new word which will be published in the Dictionary of Dylan.

Meanwhile, Thomas' grave will get a facelift, but remain as a wooden cross. The family will tidy up the plot in St Martin's Church in Laugharne.
