Plans to ban dogs from playgrounds in Carmarthenshire have moved a step closer after being approved by a council committee.

Dogs should also be kept on leads in public places such as parks and beaches, the environmental and public protection scrutiny committee said.

A public consultation prompted 620 responses, with 69% saying dogs should be excluded from play areas.

But 70% did not want to see dogs excluded from beaches.

The council's executive committee will now consider the proposals.
