Construction work has started on a new £6.8m school in Carmarthenshire.

It will replace the old Trimsaran school building, which Carmarthenshire council said was in poor condition.

The new school will cater for 210 children, as well as providing 30 nursery places.

It will take contractors Dawnus Construction about 18 months to build, with an opening date expected for September 2017.

The project is being delivered through the council's Modernising Education Programme and the Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools initiative.
