A bull which escaped from an abattoir in Carmarthenshire has been "humanely destroyed".
Dyfed-Powys Police said it escaped from Cig Calon Cymru abattoir to a field on Black Lion Road, Cross Hands.
Residents were warned to stay inside their homes as the bull was extremely agitated and deemed a danger to the public.
The road was closed to protect the public but has since reopened.
A police spokesman said: "A number of options to safely contain and deal with the bull were considered but none were found to be feasible and so after seeking advice from experts the only safe option left was to humanely destroy the animal at approximately 11.35am."
