Uganda's Asians trying to rebuild after return to Africa

Forty years ago, dictator Idi Amin expelled many of Uganda's 60,000 Indian and Pakistani people from the country.

Following Amin's deposition in 1979, and further encouraged by an invitation from President Museveni in 1992, some of those people returned to Uganda.

The Madhvanis are one of the country's most successful families and own the Kakira Sugar plantation on which BBC Asian Network reporter Rupal Rajani was born.

Nimisha Madhvani told Rupal about having to rebuild the family business, which was damaged by years under Amin's rule.

Now Uganda's Ambassador to India, she says the country's future is bright.

You can see more about the 40th Anniversary of the Ugandan Asian expulsion on the BBC Asian Network all this week.
