Africom: 'African countries can choose whom to partner up with'
The head of the US Africa Command, General Michael Langley, has told the BBC's Chris Ewokor in an exclusive interview that Islamist extremism, transnational crime, piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, and illegal fishing continue to be destabilising factors on the continent.
He also identified climate change, mass migration, and population displacement as key issues facing Africa and said Africom will work with African partners in an 'African-centered' approach to tackle these issues.
