Kumbh Mela festival

Satellite images show the millions at the Maha Kumbh Mela festival in Allahabad, where Hindu devotees took a "holy dip" in the Ganges.

The DigitalGlobe images were taken on 8 February, two days before the most important bathing day, which it is estimated attracted about 30 million people.

The images show the ant-like crowds on the shoreline of the delta mudflats and the boats they use to reach the confluence of the Ganges and Yamuna river.
