South Korea is fighting to contain an outbreak of the deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Mers) after it claimed a seventh victim.

There were just four cases two weeks ago but the total number of infections is now 87

About 2,300 people are under quarantine and nearly 1,900 schools have been closed

Mers has now infected about 1,110 people globally, causing more than 400 deaths

There are signs that the outbreak is already affecting South Korea's tourism industry

The country's leaders have been criticised for their "total incompetence" and "sluggish response"

The government has vowed "all-out" efforts to curb the further spread of the virus
