President Obama: 'Vietnam and the US are partners'

US President Barack Obama has set out his plan for a stronger relationship with Vietnam, a day after lifting a ban on arms sales that was the last big hurdle between the two countries.

In a speech in Hanoi, Mr Obama said improving ties - four decades after the end of the Vietnam War - were an example to the world of reconciliation.
