A tsunami has claimed hundreds of lives in Indonesia's island of Sulawesi.

Many buildings in the coastal city of Palu are still submerged after 3m (10ft) waves hit on Friday


The tsunami - triggered by a powerful earthquake - flattened parts of the city


Hundreds of people were killed in Palu alone


Homes, hotels, and shopping centres collapsed


Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" and is regularly hit by earthquakes


There are concerns over the fate of people taking part in a beach festival in the city


Medics have been treating many of the wounded at the scene


Survivors were treated in makeshift sites near overcrowded hospitals


Many city residents have been sleeping on the streets, as aftershocks rocked the city


Rescue teams are continuing to search for survivors in the coastal areas


Residents hung outside their houses as they were scared of buildings collapsing
