An explosion at a factory in eastern China has killed at least 65 people, and injured more than 100, state media say

The aftermath of the blast, in Kunshan, a city in Jiangsu province, drew scores of onlookers

China Central Television (CCTV) identified the factory as belonging to Zhongrong Plating, a manufacturer of car parts

The damaged workshop can be seen in this photograph released by China's Xinhua news agency

Rescue efforts are under way as officials investigate the explosion

Correspondents say industrial accidents are relatively common in China although figures show safety in some industries has been improving in recent years

State media reports say that more than 200 workers were at the site at the time of the explosion

The most badly wounded people were transferred to hospital in Shanghai
