A recovery operation is under way in India after hundreds of people were killed or injured in a three-train crash in the eastern Odisha state.

The crash took place on Friday evening, after the Coromandel Express passenger train heading south derailed after hitting a stationary goods train.

Several carriages from the train ended up on the opposite track. Shortly afterwards a second passenger service, the Howrah Superfast Express, travelling in the opposite direction crashed into the derailed train.
