An investigation is being carried out in County Kerry after a green area in a housing estate collapsed.

A hole, five metres deep in places and 13 metres long, appeared in the Cahereen Heights estate in Castleisland on Saturday morning.

Local people initially cordoned it off for safety reasons, and officials from Kerry County Council visited to carry out interim safety works.

The area that collapsed is close to underground floodwater storage tanks.
