Man shot dead in Dublin underground car park

A man has been shot dead in an underground car park in Dublin city centre.

The man's body was discovered in a vehicle in the car park in Sheridan Court, Dorset Street, at about 09:50 local time.

He had been shot a number of times. A car was found on fire at nearby Clonliffe Avenue at about 07:50.

The killing is believed to be linked to an ongoing feud between the Hutch and Kinahan crime gangs.

The victim's name has not been released, but Irish national broadcaster RTE is reporting he was associated with the Kinahan gang and had been active in the feud.

The first victim of the feud was Gary Hutch, who was shot dead in Spain in 2015.

In February 2016, gunmen dressed in police SWAT team uniforms opened fire inside a Dublin hotel while a boxing weigh-in was taking place, killing 33-year-old David Byrne, believed to be a member of the Kinahan gang.

The dispute between the rivals gangs is believed to have led to the murders of nine men, many of them happening in Dublin's north inner city.
