Pawel Adamowicz: Witness describes seeing knife as mayor fatally stabbed
The mayor of Gdansk, Poland, has died after being stabbed at a charity event.
Pawel Adamowicz was attacked by an intruder who accessed the stage at the fundraiser, which was raising money for children's hospitals.
The 27-year-old suspect, who has a criminal record, has been detained.
He said the Civic Platform party, which led the previous government and had supported Mr Adamowicz's re-election, had wrongfully imprisoned him.
