Putin: Russia can't exist without sovereignty

Vladimir Putin has said that Russia cannot exist without military, "economic or technological" sovereignty.

The Russian president was speaking at the start of his annual televised press conference where he answers questions from the public. It is expected to go on for hours.

The press conference comes after Putin announced that he would stand for another term as president.
