Channel Island roadshows offer digital switchover help

The Digital UK roadshow will tour Guernsey, Alderney and Jersey

Viewers in the Channel Islands are to be offered advice on the switchover from analogue to digital television.

Roadshow tours organised by Digital UK will take place in Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney.

These will include practical advice on how to prepare for the switchover and details of the help scheme for older and disabled people.

There will also be technical demonstrations of how to retune a television box.

Switchover is due to take place on 17 November.

Bill Taylor, Digital UK's regional manager, said: "In just over a month's time analogue TV signals will be switched off forever, allowing 50,000 homes across the Channel Islands to receive Freeview digital services via an aerial for the first time."

The roadshows were a good opportunity for people to get "face-to-face" advice, Mr Taylor added.

Advice is also available on the Digital UK website and at Age Concern Jersey and Guernsey Citizens Advice Bureau.

The roadshow will be in Guernsey on Tuesday and Wednesday, 19 and 20 October, Alderney on Thursday 21 October and Jersey on Friday and Saturday, 22 and 23 October.

There will also be a roadshow in St Helier, Jersey and St Peter Port, Guernsey on 17 and 18 November.
