Guernsey rated above financial competitors

Guernsey has better representation on the London Stock Exchange than its island financial competitors.

Statistics from the end of September show the island had more incorporated companies listed than Jersey, the Isle of Man and the Cayman Islands.

Peter Niven, Guernsey Finance chief executive, said: "It's a ringing endorsement of our credentials as a leading international finance centre."

He said it demonstrated the good relations between Guernsey and London.

The figures showed there were 106 Guernsey-incorporated companies with a market value of £21bn listed on the exchange's markets on 30 September 2010.

Of these, 60 were listed on the UK main market, 41 on the Alternative Investment Market and five on the Specialist Fund Market.

Fourteen of these were new listings for 2010.
