The subsidy goes to all three fee-paying schools

The funding Guernsey's private schools receive from the island's government is being reviewed.

Currently a £5m annual subsidy is given to the fee-paying schools; Elizabeth College, Ladies College and Blanchelande College.

Deputy Carol Steere and Deputy Mark Dorey have been appointed to oversee research being done by civil servants and UK consultants Tribal.

They are due to bring a report to the States during the first half of 2011.

Both deputies declined to speak but Deputy Steere, the Education Minister, has previously said she would like to see the subsidy cut.

The Policy Council said it was too early to comment on any possible conclusions, but stressed there were no preconceptions about the content of the report.
