Cannabis seizure is 'Guernsey's largest'

A seizure of 153 cannabis plants which resulted in a man being jailed is the largest such drugs haul Guernsey has seen, the island's Border Agency says.

Anthony Barrasin, 33, of Moorland, The Vale, was jailed for two-and-a-half years for drugs offences this week.

Officers found the plants in a locked shed during a search of his home.

Rob Prow of the Border Agency said the joint operation with police which resulted in the conviction was a good example of agencies working together.

During the search of Barrasin's home last February, 30 plant containers were discovered.

The plants found could have produced about 910g (2lb) of drugs, the border agency said.
