Mr Chester said the bids helped to raise the profile of the island's sporting facilities

The Guernsey Sports Commission believes it is unlikely the island will be staging training camps ahead of the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Applications were made to host archery, athletics, badminton, table tennis and sailing.

Graham Chester, development manager, said although there had been no response it had been successful.

He said: "It was worth doing the exercise for no other reason than to put a tick against our facilities."

The applications, made in March 2008, were only allowed if facilities met certain required standards.
