Plans for shops, homes and car parking were first unveiled in April 2009

The Channel Islands Co-op says it is delighted planners have granted outline permission for a shopping and housing complex near the Bridge in St Sampson.

The Co-op was told to reduce the retail space in the plans it submitted last year by 20%.

Chief executive Colin McLeod said this latest decision meant the project would definitely be going ahead.

However, the Co-op and its development partner Leale's Yard Limited said there was still a long way to go.
