Free trees given to St Pierre du Bois residents
- Published
Free trees have been given to residents of a Guernsey parish as part of an initiative by the Woodland Trust and Royal Horticultural Society.
Seventy saplings were handed out in St Pierre du Bois.
Marguerite Talmage, from the island's Floral St Peter's horticultural group, said the parish was trying to live up to its name.
Its French name, St Pierre du Bois, means "St Peter in the wood" in English.
The tree give-away was part of a project by conservation charities which will see about 200,000 trees given out across the UK.
