Organisers have appealed for more ex-servicemen and women to join Guernsey's Liberation Day Parade.

It is the third year in a row that veterans have been invited to take part in the celebrations marking the end of German occupation during World War Two.

Former Royal Marine Danny Blatchford said: "We're particularly keen to get all branches of the services out on 9 May.

"That's anybody that has ever served in any capacity whatsoever."

He said: "It doesn't have to be for a full career term - any length of service is quite acceptable.

"The island is very supportive of the military and a lot of local people go off and join all arms of the forces... there's quite a long association with the forces."
