A road in St Peter Port is to be closed for six weeks as Guernsey Wastewater installs a new drain.

The work in in Vauvert is being carried out by contractors Geomarine at a cost of about £150,000 and work is scheduled to be carried out six days a week.

Andrew Redhead, director of water services, said it was being done in the school summer holidays to minimise the inconvenience to the public.

The States schools, including Vauvert Primary School, broke up on Friday.
