A road in St Peter Port has re-opened after emergency work to remove a tree that was in danger of collapsing.

The bottom section of Colborne Road, between the junctions with Ruette Braye and Les Vardes, was closed at 07:00 BST.

Guernsey Police said that tree surgeons would be carrying out the work to remove the tree, believed to be a 50-year old Holm Oak.

Residents were able to access the road from the top end only.

Colborne Road re-opened at 16:30 BST.
