Guernsey charities can be more effective, report finds

A report on the role of the voluntary and charitable sector in Guernsey has highlighted the importance of States support.
A group from Bristol University has been looking at initiatives to promote social inclusion in the island.
Researcher Sarah Cemlyn said there was a tremendous amount of good work going on in the island.
However, she said it could be even more effective if it were done in partnership with the States.
Ms Cemlyn said support in terms of resources and the ability to coordinate better were vital if improvements were to be made.
She said more involvement from the government would allow groups to share a number of functions including fundraising information and media liaison.
The report was commissioned on behalf of the newly-formed Guernsey Community Foundation.
