Guernsey charities and societies may pay more for music

Charities and societies in Guernsey may have to pay up to £40 a year if they want to play music.
Guernsey's Intellectual Property Office is considering scrapping the law that exempts clubs, churches and other groups from paying for a licence.
Registrar John Ogier said some people had taken advantage of the exemption.
He said they had been removed in the UK and continental Europe. "The creative industries are very important for driving the economy forward," he said.
The suggested legal change is currently open to consultation and ends 30 September.
