A mystery illness is being blamed for the deaths of five seagulls in Guernsey.
Steve Byrne, of the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said 18 birds were extremely weak and barely able to stand.
He said they may have eaten something poisonous or come in to contact with a hazardous substance at sea.
Mr Byrne said the charity would monitoring the situation and appealed to look out for ill birds.
